Dutch spices
Although the Dutch aren’t exactly known for their spicy food, they do like to add some flavor to their food using Dutch spices. These Dutch spices are very similar to the spices we know in the rest of the world, but they’re often very rich coming from the Netherlands. Something else that’s very remarkable about Dutch spices is that there’s a lot of variety. See it yourself here at Dutch Expat Shop!

Pepper and salt from Holland
If you’re looking for the typical Dutch kitchenary advice, it’s to add pepper and salt from Holland to your meals. Maybe you don’t succeed in creating the perfect taste using just your ingredients. Adding salt and pepper from Holland immediately adds this flavor you’re looking for! How much you’ll use is completely up to you, but make sure not to overdo it, as this will ruin your meal too.
Looking to keep it classic, but want to experiment a little as well? Try seasalt from Holland instead of regular salt! This adds a new dimension to your meal that’s just different from what you’re used to.
Other Dutch spices
As weird as it may sound, Dutch cuisine is often inspired by Asian cuisine. This immediately shows if you take a closer look at the Dutch spices, here at Dutch Expat Shop. Here, you’ll find a lot of spices that can be used when making a saté or a rice dish, such as bami goreng or sambal oelek. The Dutch really like adding these spices to their meals, actually creating a meal that many Dutch people think is Asian, but is actually Dutch in the way they make it: nasi and bami.
Asian-inspired spices aren’t the only Dutch spices you’ll find here at Dutch Expat Shop. The Dutch also like to eat a lot of different cuisines, such as Mexican, Turkish or even Surinamese. When looking at our range in different spices, it won’t take long to find a specie that’s more reminiscent of one of these countries than the Netherlands.
